
Makes 4 pears
- 4 Anjou pears, peeled
- 3 cups semi-sweet red wine
- 3 cups water
- 1 cup Raven’s Nest Mulling Spices
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 Star Anise pods
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- Combine all ingredients except pears in a medium sauce pot. Heat liquid on the stovetop to just below a simmer, between 170-180 degrees.
- Once the liquid comes to temperature, add pears. The pears will be halfway covered with liquid. Turn the pears after 15 minutes, let cook for additional 15-20 minutes. Test pears with a tooth pick to ensure they are soft in the center.
- Once the pears are soft, remove them from the poaching liquid and serve warm.
